Alignment Sprint

A focused diagnostic. The required entry point for all Barrett & Pearl Advisory relationships.

What It Is

A diagnostic before a prescription.

Most advisory relationships begin with assumptions. A problem is presented, a solution is offered, and six months later the original problem remains. The surface issue was rarely the actual issue.

The Alignment Sprint eliminates that pattern. Before any recommendations, we establish a shared, documented understanding of how your organization currently makes decisions.

We do not advise on what we have not seen. The Sprint is required because advisory without diagnosis is guesswork.

What Happens

The Sprint, week by week.

Week 1–2

Intake & Discovery

Working sessions with senior leadership. Review of existing financial documents, org structure, and strategic plans.

Week 2–3

Architecture Mapping

Documentation of how strategy, finance, and operations currently connect. Identification of structural gaps and decision bottlenecks.

Week 3–4

Analysis & Synthesis

Assessment of financial model structure, forecasting approach, and how data currently reaches decision-making conversations.

Week 4

Roadmap Delivery

Presentation of findings and delivery of the 90-Day Roadmap: a prioritized, sequenced plan for the structural work ahead.

What You Receive

Tangible outputs. Actionable clarity.

  • Decision Architecture Map

A documented view of how strategy, finance, and operations connect in your organization: where decisions are made, who holds authority, and where information flows break down.

  • Structural Gap Analysis

A clear identification of the highest-leverage misalignments between your current decision systems and the organization you are trying to become.

  • 90-Day Roadmap

A prioritized, sequenced plan for the structural work. Not a wish list. A specific, ordered set of interventions with rationale.

  • Fit Assessment

An honest evaluation of whether ongoing advisory makes sense for your organization's complexity, readiness, and strategic trajectory.

Together, these outputs give your leadership team something most organizations lack: a shared, documented picture of how decisions actually get made — and a clear path to making them better. Most organizations that complete the Sprint leave with alignment they did not know was missing and a sequenced plan they can act on immediately.
